Partnerships
In 2009, the
Justin Blalock Foundation teamed
up with the
Training for Excellence
organization to present its
annual Teen Leadership Purpose
and Destiny Conference. The
Conference offered workshops on
careers, relationships, and
finances that help to build
self-esteem and confidence in
youth, how to handle peer
pressure, college preparation
tips, goal setting, money
management, time management,
communication skills, and how to
create a winning attitude.
In 2009, The Justin Blalock
Foundation also supported the
Man Up! program and the
Top
Achievers Foundation. Here are a
couple of comments from students
that benefited from the
Foundation’s support.
“I traveled to
Hsinchu Taiwan representing the
City of Plano and the United
States as a member of the 2009
Plano Youth Ambassador. This
appointment was granted by DFW
Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce
after I underwent a rigorous
interview to gain a spot on the
delegation. The support from
Justin Blalock Foundation made
this experience possible”.
-Malcolm Mann
“I currently
workout on basketball skills at
Top Achievers Foundation and
received “New Comer of the Year”
honors. Scholarship offers are
pouring in from Colorado
University, Southern Methodist
University, Boston College to
name a few. If it wasn’t for
Justin Blalock Foundation’s
support I would have not be able
to attend the summer show cases
to be seen by colleges coaches
or showcase my talents”.

Standardized Tests Prep and
Scholarship Workshops
The Justin
Blalock Foundation alternates
each year in presenting
preparation workshops for the
ACT and SAT standardized tests.
The Foundation also presents a
scholarship workshop to aid
students in locating and
applying for college
scholarships. This annual
workshop is usually held in
either February or March.
Annual Football Camp
Starting in the
Summer of 2010, the Foundation
offered a 1-day football camp
that teaches football skills.
The camp is targeted to aspiring
and existing athletes, ages
12-18.
To keep a focus on academics,
the camp always features a
workshop that will teach other
skills. In 2010, the workshop
was “Nutrition for Athletic
Success” and “Balancing School
with Sports” that empowered and
encouraged the young athletes.
In 2011, Mr. Roland Parish,
owner and CEO of 27 Dallas-area
McDonald’s restaurants presented
a workshop on “Goal Setting for
Life”.
The football camp is usually
held in June. Watch the website
for future workshops at the 2012
football camp.
Blalock’s Brood
The Foundation
has partnered with the
Atlanta After-School All-Stars
to offer an incentive and
recognition program for
excellence in the classroom. The
program impacts over 2,000
students at eleven middle
schools in inner-city and
suburban Atlanta.
The Justin Blalock Foundation
kicked off its new Blalock’s
Brood program with the Atlanta
After-School All-Stars on
December 7, 2009, at the Sandy
Springs Middle School in Sandy
Springs , GA , just north of
Atlanta.
Twenty-five 'All-Stars' were
rewarded with a certificate of
achievement and a pizza party
with Justin for achieving a 3.0
or higher GPA and a 95 percent
or higher attendance rate for
the Fall semester. There were 25
more winners at eight Atlanta
Public Schools honored later in
December and in early January
2010. Now, each semester, 25
students at each of the 11
schools are honored with a
certificate and pizza party with
Justin when they meet the
academic and attendance
criteria.
“I felt that it was important
that I give back to the
community.” Blalock said. “I
have always been a strong
supporter of education, that's
why I have partnered with the
Atlanta After-School All-Stars.
This is a great partnership and
supports the mission of my
foundation.”
The Atlanta After-School
All-Stars program’s mission is
to develop children into their
fullest potential. The goal is
to help students become critical
thinkers, effective
communicators, responsible
citizens, technologically
competitive and active life-long
learners.
“We are exceedingly pleased to
partner with the Justin Blalock
Foundation,” Executive Director
Dr. Walt Thompson said. “The
collaboration between the Justin
Blalock Foundation and the
Atlanta After-School All-Stars
will make a huge difference in
the lives of so many children in
the Atlanta area.”
